What is a words-only creative studio?

Our clients often have in-house designers and strategists.

What they don't usually have is a dedicated writer who can craft thoughtful, strategic copy for all different kinds of campaigns, platforms, or media.

That’s where we come in.

Can you write ___?

Probably! If it needs words, we can do it.

If we don’t have someone in-house, we will find someone to get the job done.

Our network includes:

Yep! Our team can edit pretty much anything.

Dust off your screenplay. Dig up that draft. Reach into those brain folds for your Mailchimp password.

Whatever you’re sitting on, we’re happy to help you get it polished and published.

What about strategy? If you only do words, how does that work?

Writing without strategy is about as effective and blowing into a mainsail and hoping to move.

That’s why we develop strategy for everything we do as part of our writing.

If you have an existing strategy for your marketing, messaging, and communication, we’ll follow your lead.

If you don’t, we’ll create one for you.

Why do you charge a set price for everything?

Flic Flac views time as a currency, not a commodity. When you work with us, you are paying for access, not per service.

Hold up, what?

In economic terms, currency is used as both a medium of exchange and a store of value. Since time machines don’t exist (yet), time has a fixed value.

The value of our time is the same whether we’re writing a blog post or devising a communication strategy.

Commodities, by contrast, are determined by supply and demand. If you are interested in commodities-based creative services, you will find many options on Fiverr or Upwork.

That’s not how other people do it. Why don’t other agencies or studios set their rates this way?

Who could say? We can only speak for ourselves.

As far as we’re concerned, by looking at our collaboration in this manner, we’re able to make creative decisions that generate longer-term value for your spend. 

To us, any job worth doing is worth doing well. This pricing model helps us do just that.

Do you do design?

No, you really don’t want us touching your visuals. 

The last time we were in charge of that was laying out a community newspaper in 2012. It was… dicey. 

We do have tons of experience working alongside designers to make words look 💯. 

We’ll gladly collaborate with your in-house designers or refer the design portion of the work to one of our colleagues listed here. They run practices spanning graphic, web, print, merch, illustration, experiential, and other kinds of design:
